The Dead Girls Club by Damien Angelica Walters | A Complete ARC Review with Terror & Thrill

*I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Title: The Dead Girls Club

Author: Damien Angelica Walters

Publication Date: December 10th, 2019~

Genre: Thriller, Suspense, Horror, Adult, Fiction

AMAZON | GOODREADS

Synopsis:  A supernatural thriller in the vein of A Head Full of Ghosts about two young girls, a scary story that becomes far too real, and the tragic--and terrifying--consequences that follow one of them into adulthood.

Red Lady, Red Lady, show us your face...

In 1991, Heather Cole and her friends were members of the Dead Girls Club. Obsessed with the macabre, the girls exchanged stories about serial killers and imaginary monsters, like the Red Lady, the spirit of a vengeful witch killed centuries before. Heather knew the stories were just that until her best friend Becca began insisting the Red Lady was real--and she could prove it.

That belief got Becca killed.

It's been nearly thirty years, but Heather has never told anyone what really happened that night--that Becca was right and the Red Lady was real. She's done her best to put that fateful summer, Becca, and the Red Lady, behind her. Until a familiar necklace arrives in the mail, a necklace Heather hasn't seen since the night Becca died.

The night Heather killed her.

Now, someone else knows what she did...and they're determined to make Heather pay.

Mysterious. Thrilling. Suspenseful and downright creepy at times!

Heather was a perfect protagonist for this kind of book, though frustrating at times, but it was hard to not get tied up with how her story was told. We get flashbacks of little Heather with Becca and her other friends and their secret club that traded murder stories. And then we see adult Heather who seems to be haunted by Becca or someone else- who knows what she did to Becca.

If the plan was to make Heather go insane with terror, they succeeded.

The Dead Girls Club had the perfect plot and I loved the dynamic of the younger girls and how it was told, thought I did still have questions that were unanswered I did like the ending. I gotta say, I did not expect that kind of ending for this book.
I think the characterization for the young version of the girls definitely helped sell the story and book.

 [My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐] [3.5 stars!!]

My Weekly Pull | 21 |

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which anime, manga, and comic I pull for myself for the week. My friend Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? hosts My Weekly Pull for comics that she has read or is reading, so make sure to check her out because it was such a cool and fun idea that I asked if I could do it for anime and manga as well as comics!

My Latest Binge...

I had to pause reading the Boogiepop light novels recently,  though I do hope to resume reading them sometime soon!

Instead, I used the time to get caught up with One Punch Man's second season (which I told you guys about in the last Weekly Pull).

And to attempt to start Shakugan no Shana without much luck. I got to the second episode but just couldn't quite get into it enough to watch more- hopefully, another time :(

I did, however, get to watch the second and last season of Snow White and the Red Hair- a cute and romantic anime! It's actually one of the first anime I fell in love with, I remember when I first discovered it a few years back and I only knew there were a few episodes at the time. So I stayed up until 4 am watching them all xD

What have you recently been watching or reading??
Any suggestions, or have you seen any of these??

Cookies, Tea, & Book Clubs with Noel

Bonjour mes beautés! [Hello, my lovelies!]

I'm just going to do a more relaxing post today, I'm going to drink my new tea and take a couple moments to not rip someone's head off. (Don't worry, it wouldn't be any of you- you're all too nice and wonderful.)

~ To Bake or not to Bake? ~

It's been a while since I shared any delicious baking recipes with you guys, and I apologize for that! My favorite things to bake recently (or even just to plan to bake) have been cookies, so here you go!
(The links will take you to the recipe, as they are not mine!) Don't you just love Pinterest? There are so many good recipes on there!! 😍

~ Tea & Book Clubs! ~

I'm trading my regular coffee in for some of my favorite tea for today, it's one my aunt introduced to me- Vanilla Bean Macaroon. I absolutely love the flavor and will never get tired of it!

When I first started blogging, I tried to stay away from Goodreads' Book Clubs because I didn't know a lot about them and because all the book clubs I'd seen in real life were... lets just say extremely dissapointing. And they never actually read any kind of book I would remotely be interested in at all.

Some of my blogging friends managed to get me to join their book clubs on Goodreads farther into 2018 though, and I have been loving it ever since!
I'm still glad I waited until I was more comfortable with the bookish community to join any clubs, and I did join and the leave several clubs- because they weren't right for me. But I've now found some that I wouldn't want to think about leaving!

Claimed by Addison Carmichael | Were-kinds & Their Soulmates!

Title: Claimed

Author: Addison Carmichael

Series: Sons of the Alpha #2.5 (prequel to REBEL)

Published: June 15th, 2019

Genre: romance, prequel, short story, paranormal, supernatural, werewolves

AMAZON | GOODREADS

Synopsis: Every night Prism Lamarche wakes from a reoccurring nightmare of being trapped and burned alive, at the last minute saved by a dark, attractive man she dubs her imaginary guardian angel. Then during her engagement party, he miraculously shows up in all his seductive flesh, and Damien Vincente now challenges her to remember him and the love they once shared.

But Prism questions that if she was repressing any such memory, was there good reason? More importantly, does she dare allow Damien to help her uncover the truth about her night terrors that may reveal a much darker secret kept from her all these years?

Carmichael strikes again with a steamy were-kind set up for her Sons of the Alpha world and series! This prequel sets us up for book three (coming out in August!), Rebel.

This is by far my favorite of the prequels in this series so far! And it actually makes me want to go back and re-read all the other books and prequels to see if there are more mentions of the were-cougars in there.
(I seem to be doing a lot of re-reading this year...)

The characters were entertaining and had me rooting for their forbidden romance, I wished it could've been longer between the plot and the romance! Addison is one of my go-to authors now for books with Soulmates that make you squeal (especially when they show up randomly throughout other books)!

The Were-kinds in Addison's series, definitely have different rules than other ones I've read- but not so out there that it's hard to wrap your head around. I like the originality she uses and how she shows everything she's imagined for their world.

Everything was tied up nicely- and there were some hints that I'm pretty sure are important for the next book in Addison's series- but I just found myself enjoying so much I didn't want it to end yet!
Though I was still greatly satisfied with the ending and I know it's not the complete end- because the series is still going and the prequels just set you up and give you a little more of the whole story.

[My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟]

Keep It or Ditch It? | You Pick #3

Keep It or Ditch It? is a meme I do on the blog once a month, where I show some books that have been in my ''TBR Mountain''  for a while, and you guys decide if I should

a) Keep It

or

b) Ditch It

Variant by Robison Wells

About: Benson Fisher thought that a scholarship to Maxfield Academy would be the ticket out of his dead-end life.

He was wrong.

Now he’s trapped in a school that’s surrounded by a razor-wire fence. A school where video cameras monitor his every move. Where there are no adults. Where the kids have split into groups in order to survive.

Where breaking the rules equals death.

But when Benson stumbles upon the school’s real secret, he realizes that playing by the rules could spell a fate worse than death and that escape—his only real hope for survival—may be impossible.

This one I bought a paperback copy of when at a thrift store a few years back, and still have yet to actually read it, much less start it!
I picked it up because at the time the cover and back really caught my interest, but I don't really have an excuse for not starting it yet...

Should I KEEP or DITCH???

Thank you guys so much, hope you're all doing well!

Thanks for reading!!
