Title: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
(Book 1 in the Mara Dyer Trilogy)

Author: Michelle Hodkin

Published: September 27th, 2011

Synopsis:
Mara Dyer believes life can't get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.

I had heard this book was spooky and too scary to read at night. However that was very untrue for me.
Just looking at the cover, I expected so much paranormal stuff I would have trouble sleeping at night. (Though that was not the case.)

I liked the mystery and suspense of the plot and story, it kept me on the very edge of my seat- and I just wanted to make sure the characters were going to be okay!
Strange things indeed were happening with our beloved protagonist, and we needed to get to the bottom of it.

I definitely liked how Mara was with Noah for most of the book, I really don't feel like this was too much of a case of Instant Love (if it even was one at all).

Next, I was so freaking surprised when we finally figure out what's up with Mara (or at least some of it, there's definitely more too it than that). And then the flashbacks were rather surprising as well...

But seriously, was I the only one who expected more paranormal stuff??

Anways, I loved where it was going and how everything was changing. Though those last few chapters straight up blew my mind and left me sitting there like ''No, just no- Where's book 2?!''

I was surprised by how quickly everything changed, but I really really liked reading this book. And I ended up adding every one of the Noah Shaw and Mara Dyer books to my TBR pile lol :D

[My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟]

Have any of you read it yet? What did you think? Please let me know! Are the Noah Shaw books supposed to be like a second series?

Thanks for reading!!

  3. Great review of the book! I've seen this book around and a couple of my friends have mentioned it, but I've never picked it up. Reading the synopsis I probably still won't pick it up. I'm really in a Fantasy phase at the moment with my books. Thank you for the lovely review!

    1. Well if you ever get in a mysterious/suspenseful phase, this book will be one to pick up. But it's definitely not what you want to read if you're wanting fantasy at the moment.

  4. Great review! I’ve considered reading this book, but that hasn’t happened yet. Some people say it’s creepy, and some say it’s not. I like my books to be creepy.

    1. Some parts were creepy, but not a whole lot in my opinion. I'd say it was more suspenseful and eerily mysterious.
