#CaffeineAThon readathon Announcement + TBR

Follow me on BlogLovin

Hey guys! I got some exciting news, I'm going to be hosting a readathon!! (YAY!! )

It's so exciting!

Since it is my first time hosting, it's gonna be short and less stress-provoking. Just 4 reading challenges, and another challenge.

The CaffeineAThon is going to be from May 1st - 7th.

As always for readathons, I will have a TBR video on my YouTube Channel and a Wrap-Up video as well. Everything here on my blog will be on there as well, so you can follow along with either one you want :)

#CaffeineAThon Reading Challenges:

1. Read a book that you've heard nothing about.

2. Read a book that you recieved as a gift, but haven't read yet.

3. Read a book you picked out (or bought) because of the cover.

4. Read a book that is popular- but you haven't read yet.

5. Drink Coffee (or tea) whenever you sit down to read a book.

Note: You do not have to strictly stick to these challenges, you can read whatever you want.
Also, you don't have to drink coffee or tea (you can drink water or whatever you want), the idea was just to drink something with caffeine- so coffee was the main choice.

My TBR for #CaffeineAThon:

1. Chill Factor by Sandra Brown

I got this from a friend awhile ago, but they didn't know anything about it. And for some reason, I never thought to look up what it was about... So here we are, a book I know nothing about Lol.

2. Orleans by Sherri L. Smith

I recieved this as a birthday present a couple years ago, and I did start it- but I never finished it (or even got far enough in).

3. The Time-Traveling Fashionista by Bianca Turetsky

I literally bought this book because of the cover, Lol :)

4. The Iron Trial by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

I meant to read this for another readathon awhile ago- and I had started it. But I only got 6 pages in, and I really want to finish it.
Plus it fits the reading challenge.

Anyone can join the readathon, feel free to participate!! :)

I just ask that you use the hashtag: #CaffeineAThon on your blog or videos (whichever you do) so that I can find it please.
Thanks!

Also, you guys can read as many books as you want, I just did 4 reading challenges so that it'd be easier :)

Thanks for reading!!

Literary Confessions

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hey guys! My friend Elle did a blog post about her Literary Confessions, and I thought it was really cool so I'm gonna do my own literary confessions!

So here are some bookish things about me that you may or may not know!! (I'm leaning more towards the 'Don't already know'.)

[First Confession] I dog ear my books

I know, I know- It damages the book, it's criminal, it's horrible- I should use a bookmark. Believe me, I've heard all of this before. Thing is, I've tried using book marks, but i just can't! They fall out so easily, and whenever I use them I end up having to just memorize the page number I was on. Which gets old real quick.

[Second Confession] I have a Love/Hate relationship with the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer.

I know a lot of people that hate this series, and I know a lot of people that love this series. I am both my friends. Don't hate me!
I did reread these books and rewatch the movies for years- but I can only take so much of a wimpy protagonist that makes the stupidest decisions. Bella was my only complaint really, I loved how it was written, the vampires were so interesting and complex.
So I both hate and love this series.

[Third Confession] I read more than one book at a time (sometimes).

Sometimes, I will just read one book at a time- and reread it for days afterwards (or even just certain parts). But usually, I read several books at once. But that does not mean that I bounce back and forth between three in one day.

[Fourth Confession] I have never read a contemporary novel.

This is very, shockingly true folks. But I do plan to fix that soon!

[Fifth Confession] I sometimes test out books on my brother before I read them.

Yep, When I'm busy in the middle of reading something- or if I'm too scared to try this new book, I tell my brother to let me know if it was good or if I wouldn't like it. Believe it or not, my brother understands my bookish weirdness better than anyone else, thus he knows exactly what I do or don't like in a book. But he doesn't spoil, unless it's something he knows would tip whether I pick it up or not.

[Sixth Confession] I have never read any of Casandra Clare's books.

Yeah... I recently bought City of Bones though, so I will be fixing that soon as well. But I can't make any promises on whether I'll like it enough to read her other books.

[Seventh Confession] I love Poetry as much as a regular book.

That's probably weird to some of you, but I love poetry a lot- and am even putting together a book of my own poems to self-publish!

[Eighth Confession] I sometimes binge watch an Anime instead of reading a book.

I don't feel guilty whatsoever either.

[Ninth Confession] It usually takes me forever to finish reading a book series.

Ugh, especially when it's a trilogy- don't ask. But for some reason trilogies are so hard for me to force myself to finish.

[Tenth Confession] I can read two (sometimes three) books in one day.

It's true! But there's also those books that take me 3-5 days to finish.

[Eleventh Confession] I don't like to buy books from Barnes and Noble.

I use to buy from Barnes and Noble, but I just can't afford them anymore. If I want a book- I'm going to have to go online or to a thrift store. As much as I love buying books in-store, they're to expensive for me.

And... that's it for me. Let me know in the comments what you think! Do you do any of these? Are any of these the opposite of you?

 Thanks for reading!!

Wintersong

I was so excited for this book, like jumping up and down while squealing at my older brother about it kind-of excited.

I actually didn't know too much about it, all I heard was it was about a Goblin King- and my heart was sold.

I was in love with the movie The Labyrinth for a long time and would just dance around the house singing the songs (much to my dog's annoyance).
Just the words Goblin King immediately made me want to pick up the book and find out more.

However, it was very different from what I had expected.

Synopsis: Beware the goblin men and the wares they sell.

All her life, nineteen-year-old Liesl has heard tales of the beautiful, mysterious Goblin King. He is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, and the muse around which her music is composed. Yet, as Liesl helps shoulder the burden of running her family’s inn, her dreams of composition and childish fancies about the Goblin King must be set aside in favor of more practical concerns.

But when her sister Käthe is taken by the goblins, Liesl journeys to their realm to rescue her sister and return her to the world above. The Goblin King agrees to let Käthe go—for a price. The life of a maiden must be given to the land, in accordance with the old laws. A life for a life, he says. Without sacrifice, nothing good can grow. Without death, there can be no rebirth. In exchange for her sister’s freedom, Liesl offers her hand in marriage to the Goblin King. He accepts.

Down in the Underground, Liesl discovers that the Goblin King still inspires her—musically, physically, emotionally. Yet even as her talent blossoms, Liesl’s life is slowly fading away, the price she paid for becoming the Goblin King’s bride. As the two of them grow closer, they must learn just what it is they are each willing to sacrifice: her life, her music, or the end of the world.

At first I had the problem of picturing the Goblin King as David Bowie from the Labyrinth movie, but that wasn't bad and easily overlooked. (Why would that be a problem?)

I liked the plot of the book, the story it was weaving- I just wished I could get more backstory from when Liesl was younger and playing with her *imaginary friend*.  I wanted a lot of that backstory as they kept just hinting at it.
Which was particularily annoying.

I liked reading about the world, and goblins and trolls. I LOVED the Goblin King- as he actually ended up being one of the only reasons I enjoyed the rest of the book.

I enjoyed the ideas the author had for the story, but the main character really irked me for some reason. Elizabeth was portrayed as very flawed in this book, and had almost no redeeming qualities in my opinion. Half the time I wanted to strangle her myself.

The book was very good, don't get me wrong- I liked the plot, the world, just not the protagonist. The ending did give an interesting edge to the story- should I continue or not? I will most probably read book two, but it may be awhile.

WARNING: It did not have much detail I think, but you could easily figure out that they were doing more than just kissing in some scenes. Just to let you know.

My Rating:  🌟🌟

Warcross Book Review

I kid you not, I liked this book better than Legend by Marie Lu (same author). But that shouldn't be a surprise based on how that trilogy ended in the first place... ANYWAYS...

This book was so hyped, I was tempted to just not read it until everything calmed down. But I am so so glad that I did end up reading it!

I read it for a reading challenge in the #AprilAThon readathon. The reading challenge had been to read a book with your favorite color on the cover.
I picked Warcross becasue I am incapable of picking a favorite color- I love too many- so why not pick a book cover that has every single color on it?

Synopsis:  For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.

Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

I loved practically everything in this book, which really surprised me. It'd been quite a while since I read a book where I was in love with absolutely every sentence in the book. (I should've known it was too good to be true.)

Emika was an awesome protagonist, she was different, smart, and awkward too. I especially liked her rainbow hair and tatoos- I liked a description for her that stood out and I wouldn't froget easily.

Video Games, Tokyo, Hackers- just say that and I'll freaking buy the book, Lol. My brother would too.

There were a few parts (such as a certain character's backstory, not Emika's though) that weren't as good as they could have been. But everything else was so good, I didn't really think about it until a few days afterwards (after rereading the book as well).

But as much as I loved the book, THAT BLOODY ENDING only served to piss me off. I thought a twist needed to happen at some point, and it did- at the very end with much heartbreak.
I do still have very high hopes for book two though- Wildcard, which is to come out some point in 2018.

I've heard mixed things about Warcross; some people thought it was predictable, and some people thought it was the best thing ever.
I do love Warcross, the only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 stars was the ending. You'll find lots of differing opinions, especially with book 2 on the way, but it is worth trying- I can gaurantee you that.

Spring Cleaning Book Tag

Hey guys! So this is going to be my first Book Tag!!

Abigail from What Makes A Good Book, tagged me- so I've got some bookish questions to answer! (You'll find a link to her post, the Spring Cleaning Book Tag, here: http://whatmakesagoodbook.blogspot.co.uk/2018/04/spring-cleaning-book-tag.html)

And now for the questions!

1. The Struggle of getting started: a book/book series that you have struggled to begin because of it's size.

Okay, this one was harder for me because I have all different kinds of reasons for why getting into a book or series is hard for me. Usually size doesn't bother me, but I would definitely have to say the Beautiful Creatures series. It took me years to work up the guts to actually pick up book one-  which I'll admit I loved with flying colors. However, now I'm finding trouble picking up book three as I'm worried what'll happen in the series. (Though book one was perfection.)

2. Cleaning out the wardrobe: A book/series you want to unhaul.

Okay for this one, I actually don't have one. I already got rid of the books I no longer wanted (which wasn't that many). If there's a book I don't like- I don't buy it.

3. Opening windows and letting fresh air in: A book that was refreshing.

For me, that was actually Warcross (which I will have a review for soon).
I read this for a readathon (the #AprilAThon) and it was one of my new top favorites this year.
I was not having a 'happy reading time' when this book came along, and was- BAM, ''You'll love rereading me over and over again."

4. Washing out sheet stains: A book you wish you could rewrite a certain scene in.

Holy crap, I've got a list.

1. The ending of Allegiant by Veronica Roth (You know which scene)
2. Fred's death in Harry Potter
3. Finnick's death in Mockingjay
(There's obviously more, but I can't spoil everything in the book community.)

5. Throwing out necessary knick-knack: A book in a series that you didn't think was necessary.

Don't hate me; but this book really felt unnecessary, and just full of self-pity dates for the protagonist to me.

6. Polishing the doorknobs: A book that had a clean finish.
You know, I can't say that I've read a lot of book with clean finishes- in my opinion. There's almost always something that turns it into a series- even if it didn't need it at all!

7. Reaching to dust the fan: A book that tried too hard to relieve a certain message.
Um, good question. I have no idea- I don't think I've ever even accidently come across a book like that. Though I've heard complaints about a few like that, I've never personally read one.

8.  The tiring yet satisfying finish of spring cleaning: A series that was tiring yet satisfying to read through.

I'd have to say the Red Queen series, now that I'm finally caught up (since book 4 comes out this year).
Book one was amazing, book two sucked, and book three was...equal to book one.
So it was constantly a up and down cycle for this series (making it quite tiring), but it did have lots of good parts.

9. Looking forward to next spring: Tag 4 people that you want to do this tag!

                                     Desara @D. Books and Reviews

                                      Elle @Keep on Reading

(I don't know who else to tag....)

P. S. This tag will count towards one of my Blogging Challenges in the #WordForWord readathon! :D Yayy!!!

Thanks for reading!!

ANIME You HAVE To Watch

It's not a secret that I love Anime by any means, and I actually plan to start talking about it a bit more.

In this post, I will list my TOP FAVORITE Anime that you have to watch!!

Yona of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona)

One of my all-time favorites, it's one season- so to find out what happens you'll have to read the manga (or read spoilers online).
It's a Fantasy, with romance (non-mushy), humor, and action! It follows a princess that quickly learns there's more important things than trying to find a suitor, her adventure to escape people who want her dead, and her discovering friends as she proves herself.

Ouran High School Host Club (Ouran koukou Host Club)

One of the most hilarious anime I've ever seen!

Haruhi Fujioka is a honor student attending Ouran High School- she has no friends, is poorer than anyone attending her school, and is easily mistaken for a boy thanks to her short hair and glasses that hide her eyes. Which just so happens to land her in debt to the Host Club of her school- and gives her a lot of other problems to overcome.

My Hero Academia (Boku no hero Academia)

Two seasons currently out, and season three coming out in a few days! (I've got it marked on my calendar!)
There's only a few characters (aside from the villains) that I can actually hate in this, lol. Midoriya/ Izuku/ Deku = Cinnamon Roll.

Me everytime I watch any episode of Boku: MY DWEEBIE CHILDREN!!!! <3<3<3

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi)

For brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, sacrifice is no new concept. They did after all sacrifice: an arm, a leg, and one of their bodies in exchange to bring their mother back to life- which failed.
As Alchemists, they are in the military at only 14 years old to find a way to get their bodies back.

Fullmetal Alchemist came out before Brotherhood did, but Brotherhood has a different ending in the anime and follows the manga.

Soul Eater (Sōru Ītā)

This follows a group of friends at Death Weapon Meister Academy, as they try to improve their skills and stop the Kishin and other foes.

I just have one question.....

....

WHY IS MY SHIP NOT TOGETHER YET?!?!?!

Fairy Tail (Fearī Teiru)

Wizards, Dragon Slayers, crazy humor, OTPs, and more!

If only my ships would become canon though...

UPDATE: The last season is in the works!

Noragami

A minor god trying to become rich and famous meets a human girl that tried to save his life after mistaking him for a human. There is still only two season sadly...

UPDATE: I want to marry Yato <3

Snow White and the Red Hair (Akagami no Shirayukihime)

Shirayuki is a herbalist with rare bright red hair- like an apple. Her hair color just so happens to get her into some trouble that she has to runaway from home to escape.

Two seasons, sad and hopeless characters, and funny plot = I'll never forget this show.

There's a lot of other anime that I really like to, but these are my top, top favorites! What are you guys favorites? Is there a specific genre you like to watch?

 Thanks for reading!
