My Blogger Friends + New Blogs! ~ 2

If you didn't see my first post of this, My Blogger Friends + New Blogs is where I share with you a handful of blogs and their posts that I enjoyed recently! Anywhere from book reviews to the most random things will be on here, so check out the links and see what you're missing out on! (And as always, I do not share links to my own things- this is strictly for others.)

PaperbackPrincess

I post I really really liked this month was paperback princess's My Favourite Books For People Who Hate Reading! A great set of book recommendations for those who are having a hard time getting into a book or trouble finding the right one to read.

Bookwyrming Thoughts

Sophia does a lot of awesome blog posts to do with more than just books- she mentions movies, music, games- things new and upcoming. My favorite one in the past two weeks is the Anti-Valentine's Day Tag | I'll Never Win Over Will Herondale. I especially love the unique titles she always picks!

Lotte's Beauty Box

Lotte shares her Favourite Writing Soundtracks (Fantasy Edition)!  A great post for fellow writers, lovers of music, or fantasy.

JennReneeRead

Jenn and Ash do lots of awesome blog posts, but one of my absolute favorite posts of theirs is It's Monday, What Are You Reading? Where they share what they have just finished, are currently reading, and hoping to read next! But they do have lots of other creative posts for you to check out as well.

Book Haven

Greg @ Book Haven always has lots of good posts to pick from as well, but I'm going to have to say my favorite for this week is Top Ten Awesome Books With Less Than 2,000 Ratings.

I'm glad you guys liked this so much! I'm thinking of making it a regular thing each week because you each have so many good posts to share & I can only do so many per post... what do you guys think?
I don't want to do more than three posts a week, so we'll see.

But thank you for reading, and go check out some awesome posts you might have missed!!

Rook by Sharon Cameron

Book review time!

Title: Rook

Author: Sharon Cameron

Other books by author: The Forgetting (review here), The Knowing (companion to The Forgetting)

PublishedApril 28th, 2015

Link to Amazon: Rook by Sharon Cameron on Amazon

[Synopsis:  History has a way of repeating itself. In the Sunken City that was once Paris, all who oppose the new revolution are being put to the blade. Except for those who disappear from their prison cells, a red-tipped rook feather left in their place. Is the mysterious Red Rook a savior of the innocent or a criminal?

Meanwhile, across the sea in the Commonwealth, Sophia Bellamy’s arranged marriage to the wealthy René Hasard is the last chance to save her family from ruin. But when the search for the Red Rook comes straight to her doorstep, Sophia discovers that her fiancé is not all he seems. Which is only fair, because neither is she.

As the Red Rook grows bolder and the stakes grow higher, Sophia and René find themselves locked in a tantalizing game of cat and mouse.
]

At first Rook's plot seemed a little cliché to me, but as I kept reading I realized I was actually only able to predict one or two things- and those things were spun around to where I wasn't sure if it would happen until it did.
And when it did, it was a whole other thing.

I've mentioned before that I'm in love with The Forgetting by the same author, so I had both my hopes and doubts for this book. While it was very different from the other book, it was just as good!
I underestimated everything from the beginning of the book!

From the first chapter, I was very intrigued, but I immediately thought of the side characters as flat and didn't give them much attention. But the next chapter and the rest of the book took my breath away!
They were each like a main character and were fighting for something desperately, and it was like I was stuck watching these adorable (yet scary) baby penguins go at each other to see who would come out alive with their dignity.
I didn't know which one to root for- even though I clearly had favorites!

The romance was absolutely one of my favorite parts- I love when couples are at each other's throats but are still adorable and they know it!Even that one person who caused problems (again, the baby penguin fighting scenario), was hard to not root for at least at one point or another. Even though he made a comment once or twice that made me want to kill him.

The plot and story were soooo good by the time you're halfway through it. The big bad villain was not something I was particularly worried about, to be honest- I was more focused on the side characters' issues and my wonderful couple that was in need of counseling.

[My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐]

Have any of you read this? If so, what did you think? If not, please give it a try and let me know what you think!!

Thanks for reading!!

P. S. Sorry about all that baby penguin talk... *scratches head nervously*

My Weekly Pull | 11 |

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which anime or manga I had pulled for myself that week. My friend Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? hosts My Weekly Pull for comics that she has read or is reading, so make sure to check her out because it was such a cool and fun idea that I asked if I could do it for anime and manga as well as comics!

Last Week's Anime...

Last week I started Code: Breaker and actually ended up finishing it in two days! This anime was very captivating once you got into it- as in past the first episode. Since there were only 13 episodes it was rather nice.
Apparently, the anime was quite a bit different from the manga (which is finished), so to find out everything I have to go find the manga!

This is one of those animes where you love the villain and almost everyone- and then since they're on different sides you die on the inside 😁
I definitely suggest giving the anime a try though, I loved the ending scene and the implication of it. And then if you decide you want more of it- go for the manga!

Last Week's Comics...

Justice League VS. Suicide Squad Vol. 2

The cover I showed you guys in last week's post was another version of the cover that I liked a bit more than this one (which is the actual cover I have).
This series is so good, I had my doubts at first but the Justice League VS. Suicide Squad comics are better than the spiderman ones I read!

This Week's Anime...

I'm a little bit doubtful but also excited for this week's anime, it's one my brother suggested to me (hence why I'm wary) and is fairly new as I understand.

Angels of Death

We'll see how it is!

This Week's Comics...

I am loving the comics I've been reading lately, so I'm very excited about this week's pick!

Justice League VS Suicide Squad Vol. 3

What are you currently reading or watching? Have you heard of any of these?? What are your thoughts?

Thanks for reading!

My Blogger Friends + New Blogs ~ 1

Do you guys remember my monthly wrap-ups and how I link and share a blog post from each of your blogs?? Well, I don't the time to do that in my wrap-ups anymore, mostly because it takes so long...

So my solution is to do a blog post once every two weeks, that shares my favorite posts of yours from those two weeks. And that's what this is! I will also be sharing some authors' blogs this week!

So when you're looking for something to check out, for a review you may have missed- it may be here! (And no, I don't share my own posts- these are strictly other bloggers, my friends, and new bloggers!)

Rachel Pudsey's Blog

Rachel is an author of The Watcher of the Night Sky series, and has her own blog where she talks about writerish things to bookish things! She also does Interviews on her website from other authors, booktubers, book bloggers, and more!
But my new favorite post by her is Do Judge A Book By Its Cover!

Addison Carmichael's Blog

Another author who runs a blog as well as puts out some very romantic and fantasy-filled book series! Her newest release Knight, Book 1 in the Sons of Alpha series, was just released and is now on Amazon! She has a post about it here, and she also posted a sweet blog post for Valentine's Day- All For Love, and Love For All!

Keep on Reading

My friend Elle (host of Keep on Reading) gave a Book Review for Spelled by Betsy Schow, a book that I've been very excited for!
And she also recently started doing Around the Blogs, where she shares some of her favorite blog posts from other blogs that week!

Reviews of a FearStreetZombie

A lot of cover reveals and blitz- so definitely check out this blog for new and upcoming reads! One I'm adding to my TBR is Shadow's Voice by Natalie Johanson.
Here's the link to her home page on her blog.

Forever Fictional

A new blog I discovered this month that talks about books, movies, and anything fictional! I especially loved her Archenemies by Marissa Meyer Book Talk, though I did have to skim over some of it because I really don't want to be spoiled for that book!

Du Livre

Amber did a post perfect for February and full of great book recommendations! Fantasy romance books that'll make your heart go pitter-patter! One of the books she recommended is one of my all-time favorites too!

Read All The Things!

 A. J. gave an awesome January Wrap-Up, but also has a ton other awesome posts for you guys to check out! Her Sunday Posts are some of my favorites!

So each of these posts will just have a few blogs mentioned and will be different each time. And yes- that means I will be stalking your blogs, lol.

Thank you guys for reading, now go check out these awesome blogs!!

My Weekly Pull | 10 |

My Weekly Pull is something I do every Wednesday to show which anime or manga I had pulled for myself that week. My friend Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? hosts My Weekly Pull for comics that she has read or is reading, so make sure to check her out because it was such a cool and fun idea that I asked if I could do it for anime and manga (I don't get to read a lot of comics sadly)!

Last Week's Anime...

So I rewatched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (again) with my friend who hadn't finished it yet!
Sometimes it's so nice to just go back and watch some more of an anime that you love a lot, instead of trying to get into a new one!

Last Week's Comics...

Last week I was able to jump into a new set of comics! I started with just the first one, Justice League VS. Suicide Squad Vol. 1

This Week's Anime...

I found an anime that looks interesting... I'm going to give it a shot and let you know how it goes!

Code: Breaker

This Week's Comics...

I'm got my hands on some more DC comics for this upcoming week!

Justice League VS. Suicide Squad Vol. 2

What are you guys currently reading/watching for anime or manga?? Have you seen or read any of these?

Thanks for reading!!

Books for the Different Book Lovers!

It occurred to me recently how there are different kinds of book lovers, and I've previously read multiple books that fit with those different book lovers...
So why not combine some book recommendations and a post about reader habits??
(Come on guys, I could've done so much worse & you know it!)

Reading More Than One Book At A Time...

For this kind of reader, how about a book where the main characters can literally do just that but also hang out with the fictional characters, and travel from story to story- any in the literary world!
The Book Jumper by Mechtild Gläser!

Re-Reading Everything Again And Again...

This is me, so for this kind of reader- a book that keeps you coming back and also has to do with fictional characters coming to life... Or should I say ''series?" 😏
The Sisters Grimm Series by Micheal Buckley!

Only Physical Copies Of Books....

For this reader habit, how about a book where the characters had to dive into the physical fictional world? Story Thieves by James Riley!

Reading The End First...

For the readers who love being spoiled first, how about a re-telling kind of book- so you already have an idea of how it will end. (Or at least, you think you have an idea...) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith!

Wishing You Were A Fictional Character...

Doesn't this reader habit go for everyone, or is that just me? This kind of reader is called a ''Fictional Fanatic''. But how about a book series about Fairytale Characters in training?? The Ever Afters series by Shelby Bach!

Trying To Write Your Own Book...

Yup, this is me as well. For this kind of book lover, I suggest a book that the main character is also in love with fiction and is an author of sorts or trying to be. Eliza & Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia!

What are some of your reading habits?? Are there any books you would suggest that go with them?
Which habits were true for you?

Thanks for reading!!

Updates on Anime...

My Little Monster

I finished this awesome anime- warning only watch the sub, do not watch the English dub -and I am in love with it!! Definitely going to do an Anime Discussion for this soon!

Anime for this Week...

I actually will be rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (again) with my friend, she hasn't finished it yet whereas I... have watched twice now.

Comics for this week....

So this week I'm going to be jumping into a new comic series... *drum roll*

Justice League VS. Suicide Squad Vol. 1

Since I haven't had too much reading time lately, I'm only going to read one comic this week to get me started!

What are you guys currently reading/watching for anime or manga?? Have you seen or read any of these?

Thanks for reading!!

Library Love #2 | My February TBR

All the books on my TBR for February- are from my library! So this is another kind of book haul I guess...

But remember how I haven't exactly read any contemporaries? (No, I don't count Jane Austen as a contemporary.) Well, we're going to fix that in the month of February! I'm going to shove chick flicks, cookie dough ice cream, and romantic/dramatic books down my throat!
So fun! 😁

On my TBR is:

Eliza And Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

(I've already started this today, and I'm loving it!)

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

So funny thing about this one, the cover that my library's website had was this beautiful one here- which was why I placed it for order. It has Paris in the background! Of course I'm reading it! But no...the cover I received was the sickening gushy cover *shudders*.

Emergency Contact by Mary H. K. Choi

I've heard this one was good by some of my friends on BookTube, so I'm rather hopeful.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Who has not heard of this? I'm finally going to give it a try!

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

I'm very hopeful that this book by Jenny Han is better than the last one I tried... *shudders*.

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

Is it bad that I'm also excited for this one?

                              *          *         *          *           *             *              *

What are you hoping to read in February??

Have a good one!

P. S. I also have a BookTube video for this ChickFlicks & Contemporaries | My February TBR!
