Stephanie Garber's LEGENDARY Sequel

Title: Legendary

Author: Stephanie Garber

Series: Book 2 to Caraval

LINKS: Amazon

Published: May 29th, 2018

Synopsis: A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever...

Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.

Okay, this is a LEGENDARY sequel...

*wink* Did you see what I did there?

Did you? Did you?

Alright fine, the actual review xD

Caraval was one of my favorite books I read in 2018, and I actually read it twice to get ready for Legendary! I know a good portion of readers didn't like Scarlet, or didn't like Caraval- but loved Tella and Legendary.

I loved both books equally, and rate them both 5 stars.

Scarlet and Tella's relationship is shown more in this book, as we get to see them both together more than we did in Caraval but we also get to learn some other things that had been going on in the first book and we didn't even know it!
I do not have a favorite between Scarlet and Tella, believe it or not, they both are so different but still put each other first and while one or the other will annoy me a little sometimes- they make up for it!

The plot in Legendary was very different from Caraval, and honestly brings up a lot of questions that I have now- such as does this mean Julian and Legend are step-brothers, or how does the relation work between them? Because that's honestly rather unclear to me...

The game was very much real this time for Tella, and I just loved the side characters and their attitudes (Dante and Julain mainly)!

The romance alone made me want to go re-read the book, which I'll probably do at some point, but I liked how we did get to see some of Scarlet and Julian's... progress on their relationship. Not going into detail on that!

Finale- book 3- comes out in 2019, and I hear it's from both Scarlet and Tella's pov. I was really hoping we'd get some of Legend's pov or even Julian's, but I guess not *sighs*.
Oh well, I'll take what I get!

[My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟]

Have any of you read Caraval or Legendary?? What did you think??

Thanks for reading & have a lovely day!!

  1. I haven't read any of this series as it isn't one that has been on my radar to read to be honest. Glad to see you enjoyed it!

    1. It's really interesting, I know some people either loved it or it just didn't live up to their expectations. It's one that I hadn't planned to read until later in 2018 I gave it a try on a whim!

  2. I swear I read the first book, but nothing sounds familiar. Perhaps I need a reread (or a first read *shrug*) and then this book. Yep, I do think they are going on my list!

    1. Don't worry, I had to reread the first book before I read this one too lol! I thought I might have to reread Legendary to prepare for the next book, but I got it sooner than I thought I would!

  3. I was a big fan of book 2 as well. I thought Garber really upped the stakes in this one, and I liked all the new world elements she introduced too.

  5. I haven't read this series yet but I'd like to- I really like the idea of it. With the third book coming out it might be a good time to read 'em back to back.

  7. I won't spoil it but one of your points are spot on, that relationship is what you think it is. It was a little confusing how it was revealed wasn't it. I absolutely love this series as well and just read and reviewed Finale myself. Finale has a completely different feel from both Caraval and this one, really looking forward to seeing what you think of it!

    1. Ooh, okay thank you!! I was worried that relationship wouldn't get explained, like they'd forget they put those little slip ups in there and never explain fully :)
